Mosaic Table
I'm joining Sanctuary Arts at Home Furniture Make-over Linky Party. Whoo-Hoo!!
I love looking at all the furniture make-overs in blogland. On my to-do list is a lamp, all of the doors in our house, and the kitchen cabinets. This is a mosaic table I made last year, it is featured in Tiles Gone Wild. It is a regular size kitchen table. I mosaic-ed the whole thing reminescent of a square quilt.

I have to say, it is a time-consuming project, but stunning. (If I do say so myself ;)

The Simple Things
She wasn't a dancer anymore, but the dance steps never left her heart.
You can find her here.
You can find her here.
I'm trying to embrace the simple things in life. Checkers with a four year old (over and over and over)...I can actually see the wheels churning:)
Cutting and snipping, placing and gluing. Making mosaics outside in the beautiful weather while I watch my kids play is my idea of a great afternoon.
What are the simple things that you enjoy?

I'm a winner!
Do you see this precious and lovable 2 3/4 year old daughter of mine? She loves her little brother...
Well, DON'T LET HER FOOL YOU!!
I won't make a list today:)
But the above picture is not the beginning. No sir-ree...
I'll make a long story short.
We had a tub of vaseline on the kitchen counter this week for poor little chapped noses and lips, and I'll give you one guess who grabbed it when I wasn't looking.
I'm not going to name names, but she proceeded to open the economy size and put almost the whole thing
in
her
hair...
No, I'm not joking.
Just in case this ever happens to your children with very fine, very blond hair, Google says to put cornstarch in it before washing it with dishwashing detergent.
Now I know I don't have to mention to be sure to put the cornstarch away.
I won't name any names again, but I know a certain 2 3/4 year old girl who went back into the bathroom and dumped the rest of the cornstarch on her head.
And no, I'm not joking.
Remember, I'm the mom who can tell you what to do if any of your kids decided to put a peanut up their nose.
Ahem...
Anyways...
I'm the lucky winner from Liz at PrimOriginals.
I love, love her work. It's very whimsical and fun. She went me this super cute and pendant and two magnets, and the little clip that I already attached to my purse.

Tutorial-Teachers Gift
Michaels has a great new collection of wooden cut outs that are totally ready for embellishing. One of their collections are these cute boxes. They have them in hearts, houses, butterflies, and guitars. Logan's teacher is a great guitar player, so we bought one of these and embellished it for his teachers birthday. This is a great project to do with your child. Logan picked out all the paper and what he wanted on the guitar. I think it makes a great teacher's gift, but it could really be for anyone!
Sunday Scripture
We will be watching church on-line again this week...I've got an ear infection now that I don't want to spread around. I am praying we will get rid of all these viruses once and for all!!
In between resting, I'm trying to finish a custom mosaic mirror. I hope to show it by Tuesday. I've also got a couple of cute tutorials for you this week. So stay tuned...:)
Have a wonderful Sunday!!

Flashback Friday
Hi! I cannot believe it's Friday again already. Does anyone else feel like time is at warp speed these days?:)
I have probably made over 100 of these mixed-media mosaic pieces. I start by cutting the letters out of clay, glazing, then firing them. I don't know if you can tell by the pictures, but they are three dimensional. Some parts are flat and painted, and others are tiled and grouted. I've made a lot of custom pieces like this, and they are always fun. Time consuming, but fun!
She was very funny and uplifting, and I needed that.

Thank you for all of your well wishes. We are getting back to the real world, catching up slowly...
I got out of the house last night and went to see Joyce Meyers. Have you ever been to any of her conferences?
I'm so glad I went.
I hope everyone is doing well. I'm trying to finish up a couple of custom orders and I've got a couple of tutorials to share next week as well. Have a great and HEALTHY weekend!!

BRAND NEW "She Said" women
Did you have a nice Valentines Day weekend?
We did...the weather yesterday was gorgeous. Perfect Florida weather.
We did...the weather yesterday was gorgeous. Perfect Florida weather.
I took baby girl to ballet, and then we had family day. Went to Target so the kids could spend giftcards from Mimi, and then had a picnic lunch outside and played at the park.
The three older kids had a slumber party at Grandma's last night, and Mike and I actually had a date!
The kids were all feeling under the weather today, so I had time to work. I had so much fun making these new "She Said" pieces. They are now available in my Etsy shop, and through Friday I will give my bloggy friends free shipping on all orders. Just remember to leave me a note in the checkout...bloggy friend, free shipping, or something like that.
I've got a few more paintings started, and I think I may try to work on them now that the kiddos are in bed.
See you soon with some works in progress:)

Flashback Friday
I love to paint, make collages, mosaic, sew, embroider, cut wood, write, and try anything that is art or craft-related. When I make something I like, I tend to go crazy on it. When I made one of these mini-mosaics/mixed-media collages, I couldn't stop. I made about 20 of them.
I haven't done any mosaics in awhile, but I will be this week. I have 2 special custom orders that are ready to begin. I can't wait to show you...:)
Have a great weekend everyone!
xo,
Chrissie
