Repurposed sign

I've been looking for something to put over Ava's window, but I haven't had any luck. I don't know about you, but the garage sales around here have been terrible for the last 3 weeks. I think it's due to all the rain...but anyway I haven't found one single good thing!
Until I spied this at Goodwill last week. I was actually there to donate some items, and I thought I would take a quick peek. When I saw this I knew it was the perfect size to go over her window.
Here is the after:
It took a good 3 coats of white spray paint to cover this sucker. There is something about the shape that I really like. I also really like the cracks and crevices; it gives it some character.

I free-handed the letters, painted them, and added a little pastel for depth. I made the posie out of material, kind of like we did here, and then hot-glued them on.
I'm still working on this room but you can see more pictures here or here.
Go to Rhoda's for great yard sale tips and some linky love, and Kimm over at Reinvented for her Tuesday Trash to Treasure.:)
And if you're interested in my give-away, go here.
Happy Monday:)
xo,
Chrissie

  1. That's a great sign that you made your daughter! My 20 yr old daughter has "Child of God" tattooed on her foot in Hebrew.

  11. This looks really pretty! I haven't had much luck with garage sales over on this side of town either. I have been encountering people who think they are opening a boutique in their driveway. High prices!
    Great goodwill find.

    Have a great day!

  13. Super sweet! I like the idea of adding the pastel. I wouldn't have thought of that, but of course way up there it won't get smudged.
