Before:
It wasn't long ago that I was showing off these before pictures. I actually really liked this room. It was fun, and very colorful. But I wanted Ava to have a big girl bed, and I got carried away with a whole new theme. I won't show you a before picture of the carpet. Let's just say it was D.I.S.G.U.S.T.I.N.G
After:
I started off by painting the lavender walls a soft, pretty pink. (Two coats!) We ripped up all the old baseboards and took off the bedroom door and closet doors. All of that will be replaced in the next couple of weeks.
I think it is so feminine and soft. I really love how it's coming together. The woman who sold me the bedroom set off of Craigslist asked me if I would like the ballet set. Umm...hello? Have you met me? I am in love with it. The comforter, sheets, bedskirt, shams, and matching curtains. It was in immpecable condition. Everything is practically brand new. I know a lot of people aren't comfortable buying bedding from someone else, but this stuff is the goods.
I'm disappointed that I can't get any great pictures of it. The lighting in her room is very wierd.
But don't you love the pink and white polka dot lamp? (From Target)
I purpose-fully left the bookshelves half empty to leave room for new books as she grows.
I decided not to hang this painting I made her right over the bed. I think it looks great on this wall. The coat rack below is something I bought at a garage sale a couple of weeks ago and refurbished this weekend. She can hang her school bag and ballet bag there, as well as a favorite tutu for decoration.
Here's a close-up of the curtains...
I told you we haven't put the new baseboards or closet doors on yet. It's been good incentive for organizing the closet space and getting rid of stuff. Not quite done yet.
I've still got quite a lot left to do in here. Lots of little details, like photos and art on the opposite wall above her vanity. i'd also like to make her a special mosaic for the spot above her bed, something with her name on it. When it is totally complete, I'll be sure to show you again.
Oh, and the carpet? Luxurious, soft, and so clean! Totally worth having my house upside down.
