I wish I had a before picture of our room, but that was in my pre-blogging days. Just think 1980's paisley wallpaper in dark turquoise and magenta. Uh, yeah. It was scary.
It looks a little sparse, but I like the simplicity of it. I have plans for a big white chunky bedpost, farmhouse style, distressed, and a handmade pinwheel quilt with white and basic primary colors. But for now, this is what we've got:) I've also got plans for two paintings to hang above the nightstands.
The end tables used to go in the living room, but I repurposed them in here. One day they'll be replaced with pieces to match my dream headboard. I've been waiting to find some cute lamps to make-over, and I finally found these lamp posts at GW for $3.99 each. They are practically brand new. I "splurged" on the lampshades at WallyMart for $5 each. One day I'll cover them with fabric.
As you can see I have used mostly browns and blues in this room. Those drapes are from JC Penny last year, on sale of course. They are the energy efficient ones and they really do keep the room darker and cooler.
This is the first piece of furniture I ever bought on my own from Pier One. One day it'll get a paint make-over too. The faux plant on top is from garage sale last weekend, $2. You can't see it but it's in a really cute tin holder.
The room from a different angle.
On this wall are three of Sarah Wyman's block prints (love her work!), and an embroiderd painting that I made above. You can see details of that painting here if you'd like.
In my never-ending quest for simplicty, I try to decorate with items that I really love or are sentimental to me. On this nightstand is a wedding picture of Mike and I in a mosaic frame that I made. The wedding couple I used on the top of our wedding cake.
Last but not least, the little shelf came from GW at $2.99. I made the painting to put on top of it.
Thanks for looking at our bedroom. It's a work in progress, but that's what makes it fun!

I'm linking up to Rhoda's at Southern Hospitality to see what other people scored this weekend.

Great job... love how you made so many cute things out of resale shop finds. I'm a little jealous because we have been remodeling our kitchen and livingroom over the past year and our bedroom looks like a boy's dorm room! Complete with TV trays as night stands! Sigh.
Such a cute room! You know, I can totally see using an old door with chippy paint hung above your bed in lieu of a headboard. I saw several this weekend for CHEAP. It would be cute!
I think my favorite thing that you showed is your cake topper! I have ours on a shelf in our bedroom.
Sure wish I could have seen that awful wallpaper!
Your room looks Great! Love the big G! I have 2 of the same pots with sticks that I got on clearance at Target! Love them!!

What a sweet little painting on top of your GW shelf... And I really like your mosaic picture frame. Good luck finding what you want for your bedroom headboard! You never know, it's out there somewhere for you to find...
Now I want a big letter great room!
I love the big letters-the bigger the better.

You are so talented! My bedroom is a work in progress too! I think it's better to take your time so you get what you really want.
I love your room. Very serene with punches of bright colors. Your embroidery painting and heart with wings are wonderful.
