Trash to Treasure Tuesday

Kimm at Reinvented hosts Trash to Treasure Tuesday. She has a great post today about a common decorating dilemma. I wanted to show you a piece I repurposed from a garage sale.
Ugly brown and black. Yuck. I bought it a garage sale for $2.After I took the hooks off I spray painted it white. But it turned pink. I waited 10 minutes and spray painted it white again... and it turned pink! Ugg...my husband said it must be some sort of chemical reaction. Has that every happened to anyone else? I used kilz and a sponge and tried to white wash it.

Spray painted all the hooks pink.

Used scrapbooking paper and some modge-podge for the center of the flowers.

And screwed the hooks back in. Not bad for $2.

You can see more pictures of where it went into the ballerina bedroom here.

Happy Tuesday!:)

Oh, and just a little reminder...Chalkboard Paint Party Friday!!!

Wow. Double wow. That turned out so cute. I LOVE the scrapbook paper centers. Why do people sell stuff with such great potential for $2? Their loss is our gain! Thanks for linking up your fabulous project.
Oh, and that "chemical reaction" crap has happened to me too!

I haven't had that color change thing happen to me yet. But it must have been fate because this is just darling pink. I love how you added the paper to the center of the flowers. So darling!!

What a transformation!Yes, I've had the same thing happen. It was when I used white kilz primer on my cabinets in the kids bathroom. It was strange! I had to use 5 coats of bright white paint to cover it up.

Hi Chrissie,

I was doing a bit of blogg hopping and found your delightful blog! :) I have had the pink thing happen before. I think your husband is right and it's a chemical reaction. So now when I'm not sure I sand to retooth then paint 2 coats of kilz before I paint it the color I'm shooting for. :) Seems to work for me. :)

Oo, very cute! I've never had that reaction with paint. Thankfully though, you were using it in a girly room. ;)
