Some of my new Favorites...

I'm playing along with this linky party today from 320 Sycamore. It's really fun so if you haven't joined in, it's not too late!

We don't watch a lot of TV, but the new show Modern Family is my new favorite. I think it's hilarious. Check it out, it's on Wednesday nights on ABC.

I think I've been living under a rock, because I just found out about Brandi Carlile. I can't stop listening to her. Beautiful voice and beautiful lyrics.

Ummm...canned mandarin oranges? They are like my new candy. For lunch I love hummus spread on a whole wheat flat with mandarin oranges and sliced cucumbers. For a snack they are delicious in vanilla yogurt. For Thanksgiving I'm using them to make a "dessert pizza". Tell me if you eat them in any other way...

I know this book was published a long time ago , but I just recently picked up a copy at Goodwill for $1.99. Before bed we've been having family reading (similar to devotions time) and I've chosen a story from this book every night. It is huge! If your children go to public school like mine, there is a chance that they will not hear a lot of important stories that we all know. I love that this book has traditional stories like King Midas, and biblical stories too. In my opinion this is a must have family book!

This part of my favorites could also be subtitled "Wish List". It is a compilation of items that I would love to have:
and these items for my camera:
and this one too.

Wow, that was fun! What are your favorite things right now?

This killed me.... about the mandarin oranges!!!! We buy them in bulk to use in all sorts of recipes, and I have never really taken the time to eat them just plain!!

Ooh I adore Brandi Carlile! Her voice literally gives me chills, especially on The Story! I'm also in love with roasted soy beans, Martha Stewart's tinsel glitter, and Nigella Lawson cookbooks at the moment :)

I haven't watched Modern Family yet, but I have seen the trailers. I'll bet if I go on-line I can see the old shows. I love mandarin oranges, too. Thanks for sharing.

Ooooh, I love mandarin oranges like candy too, and they sound so good with vanilla yogurt. I have the Book of Virtues and need to read to my kids from it again. Such great stories, and you are so right that if the don't hear them from me, they probably won't hear them at school. You make me want to go listen to Brandi Carlile right now~what a great list! Thanks for joining today~

There's a restaurant here that makes cinnamon french toast, and they add blueberries, strawberries and mandarins on it. Soooo good!

I just found out about her too. I was watching Grey's Anatomy the other night and she was the singer they played on the show. I just added a bunch of her music to my playlist:)

I, too, think Modern Family is a stitch. So, so funny.

And I love The Book of Virtues. I haven't read it in awhile--you've inspired me to dust off my copy. :)

Wow~I don't think I've ever had mandarin oranges but my son loves them. We love hummus here and have it all the time.

The Book of Virtues is excellent. I was thinking it was time to go through that again. We will use this as part of our devotional in the morning before we start our school work.

I don't watch tv much either but my new favorite show is The Middle. It's on right before Modern Family and the little boy Brick is too cute. I love him.

My favorite way to eat mandarin oranges (aside from straight out of the can, of course! :) lol) is to put them in fruit salad:

1 container Cool Whip, thawed
1 - 2 large apples, chopped up
1 - 2 bananas, chopped up
1 jar mandarin oranges
1 - 2 Snicker's bars, chopped

Mix it all up and enjoy! :) (chopped pecans and pomegranates are lovely in it, too!)
