How do you start your morning?

Good morning!
Are you happy it's Friday?  Me too!  :)

I'm wondering how you start your morning.
For me it's a nice, hot, sweet cup of coffee.

And the word...

If I'm doing a bible study, I try to get up early to do my "homework".
If not, I try to get up and read either my bible, or some inspirational books on prayer.

(8 x 10 prints available here.  If you'd like a 4 x 6, 5 x7, or 11 x 14 shoot me an email)

If I wake up late and I have to rush, I at least like to start the day with something like this:
"Hey God!  Thanks for this day!  Thanks for my health and the ability I have to get up and get everyone going!"

Ha!  No, it's not fancy or beautiful.  But He doesn't care.

I really like the book Illuminata by Marianne Williamson.  If I don't have words of my own, I use one of the prayers from her book.  Here is one of my favorites for the morning:

Dear God,
Thank you for this new day, its beauty and its light.
Thank you for my chance to begin again.
Free me from the limitations of yesterday.
Today may I be reborn.
May I become more fully a reflection of Your radiance.
Give me strength and compassion and courage and wisdom.
Show me the light in myself and others.
May I recognize the good that is available everywhere.
May I be, this day, an instrument of love and healing.
Lead me into gentle pastures.
Give me deep peace that I might serve You most deeply.

Amen

If you don't do it already, I promise you it's worth it.  Sometimes I would rather have that few extra minutes of sleep too, but there is no better way to start the day!

Have a wonderful weekend Friends!!
xo,
Chrissie

I totally agree. I'm far from perfect but can't imagine not talking to God in the morning now.

Starting the day off in the Word is the absolute best! I don't always get up early enough to do that before I rush off to work, but when I do, it's wonderful. And prayer time, well...that makes the who day better. I am nothing without Christ..."

i love starting my day in Scripture, with coffee while the apartment is still sleeping and i hear birds chirping or ill go to a local coffee shop around Denton (the first half sounded cliche but its so true!)

Absolutely the best way to start your day - I have tea. But always with the Word. Amen, sista!
