Let's Run Away and Join the Circus

I went through a little circus infatuation a couple of months ago and painted this:
"Let's run away and join the circus!"
I took it back out yesterday and made a few touch-ups.
I had so much fun painting this.  It is full of color, textures, patterns, glitter, and lots of whimsy.
It measures 24 x 36.
It'll be heading to the shop soon.

As soon as I decide how I'm going to frame it.  :)

Home series

I'm so very excited about this little series I created.
Over Christmas break I used the kitchen table as my workspace for a few days.
I had six canvases, all 6"x 6", and all my paint.
I painted one of these and then I couldn't stop!
For three days off and on I painted and watched the whole first series of "Once Upon a Time" on Netflix.
It was a fun and relaxing time.
My favorite part of each one is the heart coming out of the chimney.  :)

I posted the original's on my instagram account and I sold the whole series, so I made prints.
I'm selling them as 8 x 8 prints, and as a 6" x 6" print series.

If you are interested in a custom original painting similar to one of these, you can click here.
They would be a sweet Valentine gift, dontcha think?  :)

Speaking of Valentines day, have you made any cute crafty decorations yet?  I've seen some adorable ones on Pinterest.  :)

Plaque Tutorial

I did a fun little project that is very easy and I thought I'd share the tutorial with you.
All you need are scraps of paper, a piece of wood (or canvas), some mod podge, and some paint.

I grabbed a piece of scrap wood and pulled out my scrapbooking papers.  I save all the leftover pieces.
I cut them in strips and just glued them on vertically using mod podge.
You could use any shape of paper, any size, and glue them any way you want.
Slightly overlap them and then do another coat of mod podge on top.

I used a brayer to push out any air bubbles.  You could also just use your finger or an old credit card.

Here it is with all the paper glued down.  I let it dry for about an hour.

For the next step I printed out my letters from the computer, cut them out, and traced them onto the board with a pencil.
You could always draw your own letters if you'd like.

After tracing your letters, paint around each one with white acrylic paint.
You could use any color you want, but white really makes the colors pop.

Paint the edges too for a unified look and you're done!
I wouldn't actually put this outside unless you give a good coat of sealer.
I love this project because it's quick and easy and there are so many possibilities!  :)

Proverbs 31:25

I love painting women and for some reason I got away from it a couple of years ago.
Recently I was inspired to create some larger original paintings, and I am calling them the "Women of God" series.
I have been praying for months for fresh inspiration, and I felt blessed and happy when I started painting again.

Here is the first one. :)

You can find her here.  :)

The process of a new series...

Every once in a while, I like to document the process of a painting.
This started out as a doodle, and then I became immersed in it.
*************************************************************************************

I started sketching it with a pencil yesterday morning, and then outlined it all in black.

Then I started adding watercolors.

It was a gorgeous day, so I took it outside while the kids were playing.  Pretty soon they wanted to paint too.

I was painting just for fun and it felt so good.

The sun started to set and I finished painting just in time.

Last night I went back to it with with a fine black marker and added lots of details.

I could have filled up the whole page but instead I started a new one.
I think I may have a new series to introduce to the shop when I open up again.  ;)
Closing up for the holidays has been good for my creativity.
I can't wait to show you more...

blessings to you...
(5 more days!!!!!!)
